Therapy enquiries
All therapy enquiries are handled through Therastic. Before submitting an enquiry, please take some time to read about my therapeutic approach and the treatment I offer.
Submitting your details allows me to consider your enquiry; it does not guarantee a therapy place or an appointment.
Welcome
Psychotherapy offers a confidential space in which to make sense of difficulties, understand recurring patterns and try out practical changes. It is important to me that you understand what we are working on and why at every stage.
At the outset, we develop a shared understanding of your difficulties and how they fit together. From there, we agree on your therapy goals and identify suitable next steps. We review what is helping and adapt our approach where needed.
Alongside clinical expertise, a good personal fit is essential. The first few sessions therefore also give us an opportunity to see whether working together feels right for you.
Areas of treatment
I offer outpatient psychotherapy for adults experiencing a range of mental health conditions and clinically significant difficulties, including:
Persistent low mood, loss of interest, exhaustion, low self-esteem or recurring depressive episodes.
Panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety, specific phobias or generalised worry – including exposure exercises where clinically indicated.
Distressing intrusive thoughts or compulsive behaviours that limit everyday life, relationships or work.
Difficulties with attention, organisation, impulse control or emotional regulation and their impact on everyday life. A comprehensive adult ADHD assessment is also available at the practice.
Distressing memories, avoidance, persistent hyperarousal, emotional numbness or other symptoms following traumatic experiences.
Clinically significant psychological difficulties related to separation, bereavement, work-related changes, persistent overload or other major life events.
Physical symptoms in which psychological and social factors play an important part, as well as significant stress-related symptoms.
Restrictive eating, binge eating, loss of control when eating, or persistent preoccupation with food, weight or body image.
Persistent difficulties falling or staying asleep, early waking or unrefreshing sleep that are partly caused or maintained by cognitive, emotional or behavioural factors.
Recurring interpersonal conflicts, difficulties with closeness and boundaries, or persistently negative self-beliefs.
Difficulties relating to sexual orientation, sexuality, coming out or experiences of prejudice and discrimination.
Psychotherapeutic support during transition. Following an appropriate assessment, letters of recommendation for hormone treatment or gender-affirming medical procedures may be provided where the relevant clinical criteria are met.
This overview is not exhaustive. During an initial consultation, we will consider whether outpatient cognitive behavioural therapy is appropriate for your individual needs.
Therapeutic approach
Cognitive behavioural therapy explores how thoughts, emotions, physical responses and behaviour interact. We begin by developing a clear, shared understanding of how your difficulties arose and what may be keeping them going. Many patterns of responding originally developed as helpful or understandable ways of coping. As circumstances change, however, these patterns may become less effective and contribute to the development and persistence of psychological difficulties.
In therapy, we make these connections clearer and develop practical ways of responding differently to difficult situations, internal experiences and established habits. Depending on your needs, this may involve discussion, behavioural analysis, practical exercises, exposure work or tasks between sessions.
Where clinically appropriate, I also integrate selected methods from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and schema therapy into the cognitive behavioural treatment.
Together, we develop a clear account of how your difficulties arose and what may be keeping them going.
Goals, methods and therapeutic decisions are discussed jointly and reviewed regularly.
New perspectives are not only discussed, but also tested in everyday life and reinforced through experience.
Methods are tailored to your goals, resources and circumstances rather than applied mechanically.
Psychotherapy is an ongoing collaborative process. Regular, reliable attendance and a willingness to engage actively are therefore important foundations for effective treatment.
How it works and fees
The process varies depending on how your treatment is funded. The first few sessions focus on assessment, getting to know one another and deciding whether outpatient therapy at my practice is appropriate for you.
Submit your enquiry through Therastic, providing the information needed for an initial review and indicating when you are generally available.
When a suitable appointment becomes available, you will be invited to an initial consultation. We will discuss your current situation, your treatment needs and the most appropriate next steps.
If outpatient psychotherapy is clinically indicated and treatment at my practice is a suitable option, we continue the assessment, develop a shared understanding of your difficulties, agree on treatment goals and explore whether the personal and therapeutic fit is right.
Once cost coverage is clarified, regular treatment begins. Progress and goals are reviewed together throughout.
How treatment is funded depends on your insurance policy or the relevant funding body.
The practice is accredited to provide outpatient psychotherapy under Germany’s statutory health insurance scheme. Initial consultations, assessment sessions and approved psychotherapy are covered services. Please bring your German electronic health insurance card.
Reimbursement depends on your policy and, where applicable, Beihilfe regulations. Before longer-term treatment, please ask your insurer which conditions and application documents apply.
Treatment funded through Heilfürsorge, including for members of the German armed forces and state or federal police, is generally possible. Please clarify in advance which referral, authorisation or cost approval is required.
You may choose to pay for treatment yourself. The arrangements and fees will be discussed clearly before treatment begins.
Background and qualifications
Diplom-Psychologe · Psychologischer Psychotherapeut (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy)
My work combines evidence-based practice with a clear, respectful and pragmatic approach. I aim to make even complex issues understandable and to keep therapy transparent and collaborative.
My professional experience in outpatient and inpatient mental health services, as well as several years in a psychological service within the prison system, has given me a broad understanding of different life experiences and the many ways in which change can become possible.
Diploma in Psychology from the University of Koblenz-Landau.
Doctorate in Psychological Research Methods and Diagnostics at the University of Mannheim.
Postgraduate training as a Psychologischer Psychotherapeut, specialising in cognitive behavioural therapy, in Stuttgart.
Work in outpatient and inpatient mental health services and several years in a psychological service within the prison system, followed by work in private practice.
Your next step
Once you have read about my approach and the treatment I offer, you can submit an enquiry through Therastic. This allows you to provide the relevant information in a structured way at any time, without having to call the practice.
Changes introduced by Germany’s GKV-Beitragssatzstabilisierungsgesetz have brought outpatient psychotherapy within a fixed budget. This may limit treatment capacity and lead to longer waiting times, particularly for people with German statutory health insurance. Every enquiry is nevertheless considered individually.

Limits of outpatient care
Outpatient psychotherapy is appropriate only when treatment can be provided safely within the agreed session framework. If there is an acute risk of harm to yourself or others, or if a crisis requires more intensive, day-patient or inpatient support, treatment at my practice will not be sufficient.
An initial consultation may still be helpful in assessing the situation and identifying the most appropriate level of care.
